Well, it’s not my first impression, as I’ve got a hold on it a few weeks ago, but now it’s something different, as I own one, a Galaxy Black Version, which I won at a contest. I can tell you that there is a big difference between testing and owning a product.

That’s why I’ve decided to make two lists with what I like and dislike about EEE PC, after 24 hours of use. So let’s cut to the chase:

The Good

• Battery lasts about 3 hours with maximum brightness and Wi-Fi on
• It feels pretty fast, at least compared to a regular laptop
• Doesn’t heat up and it’s also pretty silent
• It can play DivX videos directly from a memory stick without shuttering and lost frames
• It’s light, managing to stay a little over one kilo with charger
• Pre-installed programs cover a large base of computing needs. You don’t need anything else
• You can install Windows XP on it if you have an external optical drive but you can also install it from a USB memory stick (more on that later, as I’ll write a short tutorial on how you can do that)
• ASUS revised its warranty statement, allowing you to upgrade and modify it
• Last, but not least, it looks great in Galaxy Black

The Ugly

• Battery takes about three hours to charge
• The keyboard needs some time for getting used to it. Keys are pretty cramped and some are oddly placed
• Open Office couldn’t manage to open a Powerpoint PPT file. I’ve tried several times but it did not manage to import it
• Screen resolution is too low. You’ll feel the constrains while browing

This is how EEE PC feels like after 24 hours. I’m definitely install Windows XP later. Check back for the tutorial later.
