Google preparing IMAP access for Gmail

There's word on the Internet that Google is doing some tests with IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) access for Gmail. Some users can find the option and a comprehensive tutorial on their Settings -> Forwarding and POP page on Gmail. If you don't know what IMAP is check the Wikipedia page.
